The Dog Flu Vaccine is Here
We are now offering the Canine Influenza vaccine at Lone Mountain Animal Hospital. As of current date, we have not diagnosed any LMAH patients with Canine Influenza, but feel it important to have the vaccine available for our dog patients at risk. Some local boarding facilities are currently requiring this vaccine just as they require the kennel cough vaccination. And some states (NY, NJ, CO, FL and PA) are witnessing a severe outbreak of this disease.

Please call with further questions about the Canine Influenza vaccine or visit our website for more information.

Pet of the Month
A round of applause goes out to “Buddy” our November 2009 Pet of the Month. “Buddy” is very fitting of this honor as he battles his chronic illness with his typical gentlemanly charm. Visit our website to read more about him at www.lmah.net

Diabetes Awareness Month
Did you realize that Diabetes is one of the most common hormone disorders in dogs & cats? Pets with diabetes may display signs of lethargy, excess thirst, excess urination, and weight loss. Diabetes can be diagnosed at any age, but is commonly seen in pets over 8 years of age. Some dog breeds are more prone to a Diabetes diagnosis and include: Miniature Schnauzer, Miniature poodle, German shepherd, Keeshond, and Labrador retriever.

Early detection of Diabetes can provide better treatment options and more effective control of the disease. Our veterinarians recommend yearly lab work for senior pets over 8 years of age. Annual lab work will screen your pet for the many of the common diseases seen in older pets, such as Diabetes. Ask about our economy-friendly senior wellness packages that are good for your pet….and may save you money on future veterinary bills.
