Pet of the Month: April 2006

"Geoffrey" (Pomeranian)

From "Geoffrey"....

"My name is Geoffrey. I am a 12-year old Pomeranian. I love getting into the trash. I am very
playful and love getting my belly rubs! I look forward to Mommy coming home nightly from
work so I can get my “Mommy Home Cookies!!!” She never gives me enough, though. I know a
few tricks. Mommy’s favorite is the Elvis Lip. If anyone stares at me too long, the upper left side
of my lip starts to quiver and rise, just like an Elvis Presley smile! I will answer any questions
asked, and have a special dance when the food or water bowl is empty.

What makes me so special? In 2003, when I was 9 ˝ years old, my bottom teeth began to fall out
and my gums were red and swollen. Dr. White did some tests, and the results were malignant.
Surgery had to be done immediately. The very next day, I had my surgery by a specialist who
removed almost my entire lower jaw. I only have a few teeth remaining, but I still eat and drink
very well.  Dr. White and her staff took very good care of me after my surgery. Mommy visited
twice a day. Finally, after a long, long, time, I got to go home, with a feeding tube and a lamp
shade around my neck. Mommy took time off from work to take care of me. She said it was
therapy. She taught me how to work my tongue so I could learn to eat and drink.
It’s been almost 2 ˝ years since surgery and I am still in remission."

Geoffrey has been voted "Pet of the Month" for April 2006 by the doctors and
staff of Lone Mountain Animal Hospital.  CONGRATULATIONS, GEOFFREY!
