"Chu-Chu Blanco" (Labrador Retriever) |
THE LONE
MOUNTAIN ANIMAL HOSPITAL STAFF NEVER GAVE UP!From Chu-Chu's
owners:
HERE IS OUR
STORY...
July 2nd... We took our 8 year
Labrador Retriever, "CHU-CHU" (Chooch for short) for treatment
for what we thought was a bad tooth as she was bleeding from the mouth.
After the pre-dental blood
test were completed she was diagnosed with a life-threatening disease
called "AUTOIMMUNE
THROMBOCYTOPENIA". We were devastated!!
By July 3rd... After much medication and further tests - the prognosis
was not good.
On July 4th... Dr. Debbie White told us they had done all that was
possible and now it was a "wait and see"
situation. She also said that she would contact other veterinarians to
possibly locate some blood for a
transfusion (our last resort). We immediately went home and brought
back our other three dogs as possible
blood donors. Dr. White rejected "Missy" (she was too old), "Samantha"
was also rejected (she was too
small), but "Mandy (our other 65lb. Lab) was accepted as Chooch's blood
donor that very afternoon!
July 5th ... More waiting - another sleepless night - but no dreaded
phone call.
July 6th... It looked as if the disease was winning the battle.
On July 7th... We decided that we would take Chooch so that she could
die at home with family.
Dr. Debbie said "NO!" That there was still a glimmer of hope - her
latest blood test showed
a miniscule improvement!!!
July 8th... Steady improvement - no one could believe it! Chooch was a
FIGHTER!
On July 9th... Chooch was released and allowed to return
home to continue her recovery. Of course,
she is on daily medication and goes back for weekly check-ups, but we
are FOREVER SO GRATEFUL
to everyone here that we just HAD TO SHARE our story.....
Most Sincerely,
Chu-Chu Blanco's family and friends, including "Missy," "Samantha," and "Mandy"
our hero.
The
doctors and staff of Lone Mountain Animal Hospital are proud and
delighted to name
